Motherhood is the most life-changing experience I have ever embarked upon. It is dynamic and ever evolving, full of joys and challenges.
I believe motherhood is a beautiful gift. I believe life is meant to be lived in community that is sustainable & healthy for all. I believe children are sovereign beings who are welcome to participate in community alongside adults. I also believe our modern society is hurting, with people feeling fearful and isolated in their challenges. We can do better as a collective. It starts by supporting mothers and babies from conception and throughout the lifespan. I believe that when MOTHERS are supported, EVERYONE thrives.
I am here to show up and co-create this supportive community with all who hope for a better world for all.
My Story
Motherhood came with unexpected surprises.
As I researched and worked to overcome challenges, I discovered I was not alone in these struggles. I knew I needed to build from & share my new knowledge and experience to benefit others.
Thus, I steered my pediatric nursing career toward serving mothers by providing breastfeeding support & became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). To date, I have helped over 1,500 mothers reach their feeding goals in my 10+ years of practice as an IBCLC.
And THEN:
The most profound word I discovered as a mother is Matrescence, the massive and transformative shift that comes with motherhood.
This word captured everything I felt about motherhood: the beauty and difficulties, and everything in between. It comes with layers of emotional, physical & social changes, acts of mothering, and relationships that grow, change, and develop in families and communities.
I am here to hold space for mothers by sharing Matrescence with all who desire to learn about it, to help our society see motherhood differently. To support mothers better.
