Hi! I’m

Sheila Marie

I am a masters-prepared registered nurse (RN, MSN), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and CPR instructor experienced in pediatric nursing and health education. With over 20 years of caring for mothers, children and families, I am dedicated to helping families create solid foundations of support and health, from birth and beyond through compassionate and individualized care.

About Me

My philosophy of care weaves knowledge of human physiology with universal & traditional rituals/practices in our modern world, focused around motherhood, maternal & child health. Bringing this understanding in context of the mothering journey, my role is to guide mothers to craft their beautiful family tapestries. I love bringing mothers together in community as we trek along our motherhood (Matrescence) paths, arm-in-arm.

Lactation Support

  • Support for new mothers and families through one-on-one consultations (in home and in office) and breastfeeding education. Possible topics may include:

    • Prenatal preparation

    • Latch concerns

    • Infant weight or feeding behavior concerns

    • Infant Oral Assessments for Tethered Oral Tissues

    • Nipple and/or breast pain and/or Injury

    • Plugged Ducts, Thrush, and/or Mastitis

    • Engorgement

    • Low or Excessive Milk Supply

    • Feeding multiples/tandem feeding

    • Pumping and Flange Fitting

    • Transition Back to Work

    • Bottle Introduction and Paced Bottle Feeding

    • Weaning and/or Completing lactation

CPR Training & Certification

  • Combining online learning and in-person practice for CPR skills & certification*

    • American Heart Association (AHA) curriculum

    • infant, child & adult CPR:

      • HeartSaver CPR/AED & First Aid for non-health care providers

      • Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers

    • hands-on manikin practice

    • taught by certified AHA instructor

    • all attendees receive CPR certification card

    Course is perfect for:

    • parents

    • caregivers/babysitters

    • teachers/volunteers

    • health care providers (BLS)

    Contact us at info@mamasandbabies.love to bring the class to your workplace or public location. Available for both HeartSaver/First Aid and BLS classes.

    Class fee: $60/student for skills check-off.

    ** Please indicate if you need BLS certification in the text box/registration link.

    *For BLS Students, per AHA, their curriculum coursework is required prior to skills check off. 2 options are available:

    1) Additional online course from AHA ($38, https://shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode) must be completed prior to skills check off. (total cost: $38 online + $60 skills check-off= $98 per student)

    OR

    2) On-site class provided, followed by skills check-off session with the instructor at your workplace ($25 additional with skills check-off, for $85 total per student) .

    Course fees waived for current client families who purchase lactation packages (up to 2 adults). See here for more details. No need to register for CPR training.
